Valentin Shakhbazov

Regional Coordinating Council Member

Was born on 15 of May in 1949 in Karakom village of Tsalskiy district of Georgia. He finished eight-year school in 1964 in Karakom village, then secondary school in 1966 in Bashkov village. He graduated from the North Ossetian State University by K.L.Khetagurov in 1970, teacher of mathematics by profession. In 1977 he graduated from Leningrad State University, the Portugal language department.

His pedagogical activity Valentin Shakhbazov began as a teacher of mathematics and physics in a secondary school in North Ossetia. From 1973 to 1987 he worked in city Popular Schooling Department (PSD) in Mineral Waters city. He took up different posts: a methodologist, a head of methodological department, a head of PSD instruction by correspondence department, PSD inspector. At the same time he taught mathematics and physics in schools of Mineral Waters city. He served in the Soviet Army as reserve officer.

From 1979 to 1982 USSR Ministry of Education sent him twice on a mission to Guinea-Bissau (Africa) to teach mathematics in Portuguese. He worked in the National Lyceum by Kvame N’Krume and in the Teacher Training National University.

From 1987 to 1990 he worked as a Councilor for Guinea-Bissau Republic Ministry of Education. Valentin Shakhbazov was a Mathematics National Coordinator and Mathematics National Inspector. He cooperated with UNESCO concerning the development of education in Guinea-Bissau. During 3 years he was a chairman of soviet colony trade union committee under USSR Embassy in GBR.

Since 1991 Valentin Shakhbazov has been the former and the chairman of «Enotis» Greek community in Mineral Waters. He was a delegate of numerous Pontiac Hellenism world conventions and all SAE conventions. He was elected a member of Coordinating Council on the SAE Former USSR countries Region convention held in Gelendzhik city in 2006.

From 1993 to 2006 was a director of «Argo» travel agency.

During his work activity Valentin Shakhbazov was awarded diplomas of city PSD, territory PSD, RSFSR Ministry of Education and Mineral Waters city executive committee. He was awarded «200 anniversary of Caucasian Mineral Waters» jubilee medal and medal of Stavropol and Vladikavkaz eparchy. 

Family status: married (1975). Wife: Maria Shakhbazova, born in Gretcheskoye village of Mineral Waters district of Stavropol territory. She is a teacher of the German and the Greek languages.
Children: son George, born in 1976, married and has a daughter; daughter Irina, born in 1984.
All the members of the family have Greek citizenship and speak good Greek.
