The World Council of Hellenes Abroad, known by the acronym SAE (or ΣΑΕ for Συμβούλιο Απόδημου Ελληνισμού) is the not-for-profit, non-governmental organization recognized as the formal link that unites world Hellenism and represents Hellenes worldwide before the Hellenic State.
SAE's existence and mission are guaranteed in the Constitution of the Hellenic Republic (article 108, par. 2), but the organization was originally created by a 1995 Presidential Decree in Greece. In 1995, the Greeks abroad joined forces for the first time forming «Greece of the World».
